Make the Trip to: Bok Tower Gardens
Prepare to be swept away by a garden paradise.
Bok Tower Gardens is a living ocean of greenery, artistic architecture, and blushing florals. This location feels like a secret garden and provides unimaginable scenery for weddings, photoshoots, and inspired visits.
Amazingly, it took me a few years of being an Orlando-area resident to discover Bok Tower Gardens (Why had no one told me about this destination before?!).
What brought me to Bok Tower Gardens was a graduate portrait session (four high school graduates eager to begin college life!). On the day of the photoshoot, we met at the garden's entrance and caravanned into the park. After passing the front gates, I was quickly impressed by the Visitor Center, local cafe, and gift shop (For plant lovers, this gift shop is a must to bring home your own plant babies!).
My young graduates quickly changed into their robes, and we began our swift adventure through the gardens. Our mission, to capture stunning photos with living greenery and blooming flowers, brought us on a trek to the top of the hill where an angelic building rose above the trees: The Singing Tower. As a photographer in a new location, my mind was suddenly bursting with a multitude of portrait ideas (using the tower in the foreground, the accent of the walls to photograph with, and different poses for my graduates on the nearby bench). The results from this session were impressive - accomplished young ladies throwing their graduation caps into the air with epic scenery around them! (For the privacy of my underage clients, I'm afraid I cannot share, but wish I could.)
Truly, I could have spent all day at the destination (and some day, I really will have to go back and do just that). For any other photographers, visitors, and travelers, this historical attraction is worth the trip to Lake Wales. Bring your camera so you have more to take home with you!
