Max Dernoll | Tribal Warrior
Introducing a local rising model, Max Dernoll – I found Max through a Seattle photographer & model Facebook group. Max (IG: @themaxxedmax) had posted that he wanted to collaborate with someone on some new ideas. I roped Max into the idea of doing a tribal warrior shoot with many cultures as the inspiration. My team, consisting of Shayna Kennedy (hair stylist, @shaynanagans) and Megan Hansen (costume designer, @mershiv), used Viking and Native American culture as the inspiration. For the body paint, I was inspired by the designs in “Divergent” (2014), in combination with the warriors in “Centurion” (2010). Together, we made this shoot happen! We were constantly exchanging ideas, poses, costumes, and props.
