Chromatic Fire
For this photoshoot, I was hugely inspired by two things: 1) Lady Gaga’s recent “Chromatica” album release and 2) an image in a magazine with chromatic silver with vibrant colors. After virtually meeting model, Ashly Marie (IG: @ashlymarie_model), I sent her a photo of inspiration and she was on board! As per usual, the inspiration compared to the outcome of my art is much different from each other. But, this is intentional because why would I want to mimic someone else exactly? In creating the gold elements on Ashly’s eyes, cheeks and limbs, I used Mehron’s metallic gold powder and liquid combo. The busy, shiny fabric used in this photo was a simple purchase from Hobby Lobby. Other products used on my beautiful model included MAC, Benefit Cosmetics, and Anastasia Beverly Hills. Now, let’s get to the more exciting introduction about my model! Just through texting and talking, I could tell that Ashly and I were going to hit it off (and we did!). This girl has an amazing spirit and philosophy on life. She told me “Whenever I walk into a room, or a new place, I try to leave it better than when I left it”. She aims to fill her world with good and appreciate all of life’s lessons. She is strong-willed, courageous, and will surprise you with her stories! While doing her makeup for the shoot, she filled me in about her background, family, and what’s currently happening in her world.
