How I Sold My Seattle Home Over Asking

Captured by Bozanich Photography in 2019

A view from our living room: Mt. Rainier towers above the fog sitting over SeaTac Airport.

Selling the View with the House

In 2017, my husband and I purchased a very quaint, yet charming mid-century home in the Burien (just outside of Seattle city lines). This home had many cons to its pros... so let's start with the hard-sells.

  1. Tucked away at the back of the private drive was no room to turn around a vehicle. Historically, many neighbors (including our very own real estate agent) struck their vehicle in an attempt to double back upon exiting the driveway.

  2. The 1950s home had many 1950s features... including original kitchen appliances and cabinets, popcorn ceilings, and only one bathroom.

  3. Lastly, located right next to the airport, air traffic noise was a constant with planes flying every 5 minutes or less, BUT

... there was a selling feature to this airport situation.

What was it? A complete unobstructed view of Mt. Rainier where a daily sunrise skyline straight from the living room.

Having had the opportunity to witness this astounding view in numerous conditions (clear skies, foggy days, and vibrant sunrises), I featured the best photos of the view as the headlining preview to our property. We received thousands of views very quickly on the MLS and even unannounced visitors wanting to see the view in person.

In just three years, we sold our home for $105,000 over our original purchase price!

The resounding verdict was:

Even if it is hard to sell, professional and stellar images can still make a property stand out from the competition!
